Your music. Your privacy.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how AmericanAirwave (also listed as “American Airwave — Radio & Music”) handles information when you use its browser extension.

Last updated: October 23, 2026 · Applies to browser extension version 1.3.3

The essentials: your radio favorites and settings stay in your browser. YouTube Music information is used to display and control your music. The extension has no developer-operated analytics or data-collection server. Radio and music providers receive the network requests needed to deliver their services.

1. Information the extension handles

Local preferences

The extension saves your favorite station identifiers, selected station and audio source, volume, interface language, theme, streaming quality, and tuning-sound preferences in chrome.storage.local. These settings are not sent to the developer or synchronized using Chrome Sync by the extension. Radio search terms and filters are processed in the player interface.

YouTube Music information

When YouTube Music is open and the integration is active, the extension reads information from that page: track titles, artist information, artwork URLs, playback state and position, duration, volume, like status, repeat and shuffle settings, and up to 100 loaded queue entries. When you request your playlists, it reads up to eight available playlist cards, including their titles, identifiers, subtitles, and artwork URLs. It may open a background YouTube Music library tab for this purpose.

This information is passed between components of the extension inside your browser. Track, queue, and playlist metadata are held in runtime memory rather than saved as a permanent listening-history database. Temporary tab identifiers and playback coordination values are stored in browser session storage.

Information not collected by the extension

The extension does not request your name, email address, payment information, precise location, microphone recordings, or Google password. It does not read or export authentication cookies or tokens, and it does not collect browsing history from unrelated websites. There is no separate AmericanAirwave account.

2. How information is used

Information is used to provide the extension’s single purpose: listening to online radio and controlling YouTube Music from one browser player. This includes restoring preferences, displaying music information, selecting stations or playlists, controlling playback, and pausing one source when switching to another.

The extension does not sell user data, create advertising profiles, or send listening information to the developer for analytics. Information accessed through the music integration is used only for the described player features. The extension does not record or export audio; playback uses temporary media buffering.

3. External services and network requests

Radio broadcasters and streaming providers. Playing a station connects your browser directly to its streaming service. That service receives your IP address, requested stream URL, request time, and technical browser/network information associated with the connection. Streams may redirect to additional delivery servers or contain broadcaster-provided advertising. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies.

The station catalogue in version 1.3.3 uses the following streaming domains:

streamguys1.com subdomains: kexp, wwoz-sc, kjzz, wlrn, wpln, kera, laist, tektite, and cmg.

ice2.somafm.com, ice5.somafm.com, ice6.somafm.com, listen.181fm.com, stream.revma.ihrhls.com, playerservices.streamtheworld.com, stream.wbez.org, fm939.wnyc.org, ais-sa8.cdnstream1.com, streaming.live365.com, and live.amperwave.net.

Google / YouTube Music. The integration operates through music.youtube.com and your existing signed-in session on that website. Playback and actions such as liking a track are processed by YouTube Music and may affect your account or listening history there. Artwork is loaded from the HTTPS image URLs supplied by the YouTube Music page, which exposes ordinary connection information to those image hosts. See the Google Privacy Policy.

The developer does not receive your playlist contents, track metadata, or local settings through these connections. Third-party services may process data independently of this extension, including through their own cookies, logs, and account settings.

4. Why browser permissions are needed

  • storage: saves local preferences and temporary session state.
  • offscreen: allows radio playback to continue when the player interface is closed.
  • scripting: connects the packaged playback-control script to YouTube Music tabs.
  • sidePanel: displays the player in Chrome’s docked side panel.
  • Access to music.youtube.com: reads player and playlist information and performs requested music controls.
  • Access to cmg.streamguys1.com: supports radio streams and HLS requests hosted on that domain.

The extension’s content script runs on YouTube Music, not on unrelated websites. Other radio streams and artwork may load as HTTPS media or images without separate host permissions.

5. Storage, retention, and your choices

Local preferences remain until changed, cleared, or removed with the extension. Temporary session storage is cleared when the browser session ends; runtime music information is discarded when its extension or page context is destroyed. Closing the player panel alone does not stop background playback or immediately clear all runtime state.

  • Pause playback to stop the active radio stream.
  • Close YouTube Music tabs or revoke the extension’s access to that site to stop the integration.
  • Remove the extension through Chrome’s extension manager to delete its local extension storage.
  • Manage YouTube Music listening history and account data through your Google account. Uninstalling AmericanAirwave does not delete data already held by music or radio providers.

The extension uses HTTPS URLs for its configured external connections. Browser storage is not a separate encrypted vault; access to your browser profile or device can expose locally stored preferences.

6. This policy website and support

This page contains no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, cookies set by the page, or forms. Its hosting provider, Netlify when deployed there, may process ordinary server access information such as IP addresses and request timestamps to deliver and secure the website. See Netlify’s Privacy Policy.

If you email support, the developer receives your email address and the information you choose to send. That correspondence is used to answer your request and is retained only as long as needed for support or applicable obligations. Email is processed by the email provider; please do not send passwords or authentication tokens.

This policy will be updated when the extension’s data practices change. The latest revision date appears at the top of this page.
